Why Having a Written Business Plan Is Essential to Your Success

You’ve probably heard before that, in order to really have success in business, you need a written business plan.  Trouble is, most small business owners and entrepreneurs don’t take the time to create one.  They see it as something that’s only important if you’re looking for a loan or trying to raise venture capital.  That’s a fatal mistake in many businesses.

I recently co-authored a free report called 6 Mistakes That Could Destroy Your Business - And How You Can Avoid Them (209).  Please click on the link to get your copy now.  And don’t worry: there are no strings attached.

I hope you enjoy the report and, more importantly, I hope you take some action on it.  Just like you can’t build a sturdy house without a well-drawn blueprint, you can’t build a successful business without a well-thought out, written business plan!

  2. Jerry,

Totally agree – the people who benefit the most from having a business plan are those running the business. That’s because it’s not about what you hope to convince others to get into, it’s about what you’ve gotten yourself into and how everyone in the company need to work together to make it successful. That’s why they say: ‘having no plan is planning to fail’!

  3. I’ve seen this so clearly in the past couple months; having a business project languish, then, after creating a separate business plan for the project, watching it take off like a rocket.

A business plan doesn’t have to be for a whole business, it can be for a project, like I did here, or for a division of your business (despite being a really small business, my wife and I have four distinct divisions of our business to manage, and they’re each going to get their own plan.)
